The N.C. Board of Transportation will consider awarding contracts totaling nearly $13 million for highway improvement projects in 13 counties, including Ashe, Caldwell, and Wake counties, at its meeting on Thursday.

The board will consider replacing a bridge over Big Horse Creek on Big Horse Creek Road near Tuckerdale in Ashe County, replacing a bridge over John's River on Playmore Beach Road near Adako in Caldwell County, and replacing another bridge over Lower Bartons Creek on Mount Vernon Church Road in Wake County.
