After a waiver of extradition, the suspect in the December 22nd killing of Jimmy Roberts has been returned to Watauga County.
According to Captain Jim Wilson of the Boone Police Department, State Bureau of Investigation agents and a Boone Police investigator brought John Richard Gray back to the county from Illinois to face charges including the murder of Jimmy Roberts.
Gray was arrested on Christmas Day in Rochelle, Illinois after a standoff with the Illinois State Police.
Gray was taken before a magistrate who ordered him held without bond. Gray has been given a March 30th court date in district court.
