|High Country Gas Prices Competitive with Prices off the Mountain|

It’s been a long time since anyone in the area has seen gas prices at around a dollar and a half per gallon, but many area gas stations are selling regular unleaded gasoline at around $1.55.
Gas prices here in the High Country are usually at least 10 cents higher than off the mountain, but the lowest gas prices reported in the Lenoir and Hickory area is $1.53, only two cents cheaper than local gas stations.
Congresswoman Virginia Foxx was traveling through North Carolina’s 5th congressional district and told Aisling Broadcasting that gas prices in Watauga and Ashe County are even cheaper than those in Wilkesboro.
