Heartland Publications buys Jefferson newspaper PDF Print

Heartland Publications LLC announced its intention to buy four daily newspapers and other properties in four southern states.

The deal, which is set to close in June, includes four daily newspapers, three triweeklies, two biweeklies, seven weeklies, a wine magazine, and several shoppers and niche publications. The papers are currently owned by Spartanburg-based Mid-South Management Co. Inc..  Heartland, based in Connecticut, is owned by a New York equity firm and is an investing subsidiary of Wachovia Corporation. Among papers affected is the Jefferson Post in West Jefferson.
