A public hearing is being held today at 10 a.m. in the City-County chambers in Lenoir to consider a temporary development moratorium for the Wilson Creek area.
The proposed construction halt is designed to give county officials the opportunity to create new regulations to preserve the wild and scenic areas near the Wilson Creek area. The moratorium could be in place for up to a year and would affect 1,200 feet on either side of the creek for an 8-mile stretch from Adako Road to the Avery County line.
