Tuesday afternoon, the Bank of Granite on N.C. Highway 127 in Hickory was robbed, police say.
Witnesses said a man entered the bank through the front door and walked up to a teller with a note that instructed her to give him money. Though the man indicated he had a gun, the teller never saw one according to police statements. The alleged robber got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. According to police, he walked across N.C. Highway 127 into the Westover Woods neighborhood. Dogs were unable to track the man. Video footage was recovered from the bank. The alleged robber is thought to be white, average height, in his 30s, wearing a long-sleeved orange T-shirt, an orange or beige baseball hat and blue jeans. He also has a reddish-brown goatee. Anyone with information is urged to contact Hickory police at 828-328-5551.
