Environmental advocate and former Vice President Al Gore will call on young people across the country to get out the vote and hold elected leaders accountable for climate change and clean energy campaign promises.
Gore’s call to action will be broadcast via a live webcast, as thousands of college students across the country begin a national get-out-the vote effort.
The webcast is sponsored by Power the Vote, which is a national non-partisan effort spearheaded by the Energy Action Coalition, which seeks to elevate the issue of climate change in the election.
According to Brianna Cotter of the National Power Vote Campaign, Appalachian State students are organizing a large viewing party to watch the webcast and then kick-off their campus election activities with an evening 'dorm storm' to remind their peers to vote on November 4th. Cotter explained they will finish the evening with a voting dance party.
The event will be held in the Solarium at ASU’s Plemmons Student Union on Wednesday evening at 8:00. The webcast viewing party is not limited to ASU students; it is free and open to the public.
