The program at Newland Elementary School this morning was both inspiring and captivating to the students gathered.
It's tradition for the Pat Ray VFW Post to donate one patriotic book to Newland Elementary on Memorial Day. This year's selection was H is for Honor. According to veteran Bill Dean, it's important because kids learn patriotism through books and programs. Guest speaker Lee Bozeaman spoke to kids of sacrifice, explaining that Memorial Day is about thanking soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Those soldiers, he said, are hopefully looking down in appreciation for Americans' recognition.
