Fire Prevention Week: Importance of a Home Escape Plan PDF Print

As Fire Prevention week continues, Fire Prevention Specialist with the Boone Fire Department, Matthew Crawford, explains about the importance of an escape plan.

Crawford said, “Everybody that has a house needs to have an escape plan.  It shows two ways out of every room, and it shows a meeting place outside.  A meeting place is where if you house catches on fire, everybody goes.  That way when the fire department pulls in, mom and dad can tell us that everybody’s out of the house or my little girl is still in the house missing.  We want to make sure that people have that and post it somewhere everybody can see it like maybe on the refrigerator.”

We’ll check back in with Crawford as the week continues for more fire safety tips.
