There have been reports of a child abduction at Beech Mountain over the weekend.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the incident involved a custody issue.

The Boone Police Department reported they were asked to be on alert for a female suspect and the suspect’s vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet 4-door Suburban, burgundy in color, with a South Carolina dealer’s tag.

A spokesperson for the Boone P.D. reported the suspect and the child both share the same last name.

The Beech Mountain Police Department refused to comment regarding the incident.
