Saturday is a great day to have pets in Watauga County. Not only has the “Spring Fling” Pet Show at the Dog Park been rescheduled for this weekend, but a valuable class for pet-owners kicks off.
From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., registration begins. “Ugliest Dog,” “Most Talented,” “Best Dressed” and “Best Look-A-Like” are among contests in the Humane Society event which is designed to celebrate pet diversity. Mayor Loretta Clawson will be one of the judges. The pet show and admission are free. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., pet-owners have the opportunity to take a 4 hour class on Pet First Aid. Participants will practice on realistic dog and cat manikens so that they are better prepared to handle an emergency. The cost of the course is $20. Call 828-264-8226 to register.
