The Senate approved a measure that would limit how many times speeders could plead to a particular lesser charge.
In a very swift vote of 49-1, the Senate agreed to only allow a driver to accept a lesser charge of “improper equipment” only twice in a five-year period. Drivers traveling over 30 mph above the speed limit would be ineligible for the lesser count. The bill also prevents judges from giving drivers prayers for judgment for citations more than 30 mph. The bill now heads to the House for consideration
