According to WBTV, Brinkley's body was found on his property Wednesday afternoon.
Brinkley is thought to have died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Several agencies had been searching for Brinkley, a former police officer and Iraq War veteran, since Friday evening. The FBI, U.S. Marshal Service and governor’s office were offering $25,000 for information leading to Brinkley’s arrest.
Brinkley’s body was found when numerous Special Weapons and Tactics teams, including more than 200 officers from across the state, had swarmed his property off Fox Winkler Road in Caldwell County early Wednesday to search the area and about a mile radius surrounding the property for a second time.
A memorial service for the slain deputy, Adam Klutz, was held today.
