Grave robbers in Caldwell PDF Print

Brass grave markers at the Mars Hill A.M.E. Church cemetery off Playmore Beach Road in Caldwell County are missing.

10-12 veterans are buried in the cemetery. The brass grave markers were specific to the veterans. Early speculation says the markers may have been stolen with the intent of selling them for scrap metal. Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office has not received the report, but has been in contact with people representing the church. An investigation is expected, and more details will follow. Anyone with any knowledge of the incident is encouraged to call Caldwell Crimestoppers at 828-758-8300.
