Jerry Anderson is being housed in the Gaston County Jail while his first-degree murder trial is taking place.
The jail is next door to the trial location and such an arrangement will be easier, according to Caldwell County officials, than transporting Anderson back and forth from Caldwell. Caldwell County is paying Gaston $40 a day as compensation for the arrangement. Yesterday marked his 13h day in Gaston County, and the trial is expected to last four to six weeks total. With the rising cost of gasoline and possible traffic delays, officials believe housing Anderson in Gaston County is the best option.
