It’s not often counterfeit money is passed in the High Country, according to Detective Dee Dee Rominger.
Earlier this week, however, that’s exactly what happened. The suspects who passed a counterfeit twenty dollar bill. They are believed to be white males in their late twenties to early thirties, driving a 2005-2006 Chevrolet Silverado ¾ Ton Pickup Truck. Watauga businesses should be on the lookout for the suspects- and for counterfeit bills. According to Rominger, pens that identify counterfeit money can be inexpensively purchased.
