It’s not often counterfeit money is passed in the High Country, according to Detective Dee Dee Rominger.
Earlier this week, however, that’s exactly what happened. The suspects who passed a counterfeit twenty dollar bill. They are believed to be white males in their late twenties to early thirties, driving a 2005-2006 Chevrolet Silverado ¾ Ton Pickup Truck. Watauga businesses should be on the lookout for the suspects- and for counterfeit bills. According to Rominger, pens that identify counterfeit money can be inexpensively purchased. If you or your business receives any confirmed counterfeit bills, contact the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office at 828-264-3761.
