Celebrated storyteller, comedian, and Watauga County native, Orville Hicks will be telling stories today at the new Boone Drug location at Greenway in the Medical Plaza.

Hicks will start telling stories at about 1:00 this afternoon.

Hicks has won many awards including the Kentucky Colonel Award, the Brown Hudson Folklore Award, and the Folklore Preservation Award.

Another fun Orville Hicks fact:  on October 25^th, 2007, Hicks was given the Heritage Award in Raleigh.  That same day was also declared Orville Hicks Day in Boone by Mayor Loretta Clawson.

There will be free ice cream served at the storytelling event today.
