May 21-June 3 is the ‘Click it or ticket’ campaign, part of the Governor’s Highway Safety program. It is a campaign Newland Police Department takes seriously, according to Police Chief Jason Brown.
He's seen first hand what a difference seatbelts can make.
The penalty for a seatbelt violation can be as much as $125 and 2 points on your driver’s license. No warnings will be given, and Newland police officers are not the only ones on alert next week, so buckle up.
