U.S. Army Maj. Larry Bauguess of Moravian Falls has died from injuries sustained from enemy small arms fire in Pakistan.
The son of Larry John Bauguess and Martha Johnson Bauguess, the soldier is the second Wilkes County native to have been killed in America’s war on terror. Bauguess was the Operations Officer for the 4th Brigade Combat Team’s Special Troops Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1993 and received his commission in July of that same year. He leaves behind wife Wesley and daughters Ryann and Ellie.
