Anderson trial continues PDF Print

Jury selection continues today in what might be Caldwell County’s most publicized murder trial.

Several motions have been presented so far in the first-degree murder trial of Jerry Anderson. Granted motions include requiring prosecutors to provide a list of the aggravating factors. A motion by the defense to dismiss the charges due to lack of jurisdiction was not granted. Lawyers for the defense argued the charges should be dropped because there is not any evidence that supports the victim being killed in North Carolina. In fact, lawyers went on to say a witness claims to have seen the victim alive in South Carolina, a place where they say there is no evidence to link Jerry Anderson. The victim’s truck was found in South Carolina, her body in the trunk. Emily Anderson, Jerry’s wife, was reported missing December 29, 2005 by the suspect. Her truck was discovered January 7, 2006. Caldwell County detectives believe Anderson was shot December 29, 2005, at the Sawmills dairy farm Jerry Anderson owned and operated at the time of her death.
