Beech Creek Bog is now on the state’s list for consideration as “unique wetlands.”
One of 33 properties on the list, the Bog was the focus of a preservation effort five years ago. By reclassifying the Bog as a “unique wetland,” the site will receive additional protection. The Bog is 120 acres and has been preserved through the efforts of the Blue Ridge Rural Land Trust. Reclassification will be considered at hearings in Raleigh later this month.
