| Bishops oppose sex education measure |

North Carolina's Roman Catholic bishops made their opinions on abstinence education known in the General Assembly yesterday.
Bishops appealed to House Speaker Joe Hackney to block action on a bill that would change the state’s sex education curriculum. The measure would expand the programs that currently concentrate on abstinence until marriage to cover more details about sexually transmitted diseases, contraception, sex assault and abuse.
