A fire that started near Pinnacle Trail and has burned more than 2,400 acres in Pisgah National Forest since April 25 is now fully contained according to the U.S. Forest Service.
According to public information officer Bernie Pineda, fire crews brought in to fight the blaze are being sent back to their home units today. Even though the battle is over, the Linville Gorge Wilderness and Table Rock Area remain closed. The decision to reopen areas of Pisgah will be made by the Grandfather District, according to U.S. Forest Service representatives.
