Caldwell murder suspect denied bond for the second time PDF Print

A Caldwell County Superior Court judge refused to set a bond for 20-year-old murder suspect Rashad Donte Jordan of Lenoir.

Jordan, accused of murdering 27-year-old Cedric Jovan Harshaw in January, asked Judge Beverly T. Beal through his attorney to reconsider setting reasonable conditions for release before his trial. After Beal rejected Jordan’s request, he decided the state could obtain Jordan’s cell phone records from January 18 to midnight on January 20. Prosecutors believe Jordan was in contact with the victim prior to Harshaw’s death.  A Crimestoppers tip led police to Jordan roughly six hours after the murder occurred. Jordan was convicted in 2004 of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to seriously injure and was placed on parole four months before prosecutors believe he murdered Harshaw.
