Contest to design N.C. plates PDF Print
Written by Lauren Ohnesorge

“First in Flight” may disappear from North Carolina license plates.

A bill approved yesterday in the House would create a contest to design new standard plates for vehicles registered in North Carolina. Elected leaders would choose a winner from among three finalists. Anyone would be eligible to enter. The Outer Banks inspired themes currently on plates date from the early 1980s, and lawmakers want to capture the spirit of the state’s future. The measure’s next stop is the Senate.
