Calling all actors! Open auditions for the premiere of the outdoor drama Miracle on the Mountain are tonight at 6 p.m. at the Sloop Chapel on the Crossnore School campus.
It should be the start of a wonderful new high country tradition, according to Crossnore School’s chief advancement officer Laura Laughridge. It is an adaptation of Crossnore school founder Mary Martin Sloop’s book “The Miracle in the Hills.” It chronicles her mission as she fought to improve conditions here in the mountains from the time she got here in the early 1900’s through the 1960’s. The drama should premiere the first and third weeks of August in the Crossnore School’s newly created amphitheatre. The director will be Keith Smith and it will star Cathy Stallings as Dr. Mary Martin Sloop.
