KADA kids are performing their last show of the school year at Banner Elk Elementary School today.
KADA is an outlet of Avery Citizens Against Domestic Abuse, or ACADA, according to director Susie Smith. KADA stands for kids against domestic abuse. The program is used to bring education about abuse into the school system. The message is simple, Smith says. “It’s ok to talk to adults about and tell them whats going on that may be bothering them or hurting them or making them afraid.” That message is delivered by singing puppets whose skits cater to different age groups. The KADA kids will return to Avery County elementary schools in the fall.
