8 Caldwell County Career Center High School students earned state championships in career and job skills at the Skills USA competition.
The students earned 18 medals in 13 total events. First place winners were Michael Lutz in plumbing, Robert Colley in firefighting, Danyell Riggins in preschool teaching, Lewis Foust, Max Barlowe, Billy McElyea and Marc Colvard in Teamworks, and Justin Gryder in carpentry. The students will represent Caldwell County at the national championships in Kansas City this summer. Additionally, Zachary Ferguson was elected to state office.
