A wildfire that began last Wednesday near Linville Gorge is still hanging on, according to U.S. Forest Service Information officer Dyan Bone.
.
Over 240 firefighters, 2 bulldozers, and 2 helicopters have battled the blaze. Over 550 acres have been charred, according to the latest GPS devices, and firefighters do not have a clear estimate of when Linville Gorge and its surrounding trails will be accessible
