|Breitenstein to Wofford: Hopes they beat ASU|
Watauga High School senior football star Eric Breitenstein made it official yesterday: he’s signed to play football next year at Wofford College.
Breitenstein leaves a stunning Watauga High School career.
Breitenstein ran for 2,445 yards and scored 29 touchdowns during his senior year. He was also named first team all-state by the Associated Press and was selected to play in the Shrine Bowl. He was Watauga's first Shrine Bowl selection in 28 years.
“High school football is definitely over now, but now I’ve got four more years, four or five more years to keep on going, so it will be a lot of fun.”
The decision to go to Wofford was not made lightly.
“It’s always tough to make a big decision like this that’s going to carry through the next part of your life, but I’m really happy with Wofford. It’s a great school. You can’t beat the academics, and a pretty dang good football team too, so, hopefully we can maybe, once again beat App and then, instead of them winning, maybe we’ll win it one year while I’m there. We’ll see.”
Wofford was 11-2 this past year and lost to Richmond in the second round of the FCS playoffs. Wofford College is a Division One School in the Southern Conference and ASU's biggest rival. Wofford will play at ASU next fall.
