Police seek escaped Hickory inmate |

Hickory Police are looking for escaped inmate 42-year-old
Joseph Preston Salser.
Salser escaped from a Catawba County inmate transport
van around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday. While police say its not likely that Salser is
a threat to the public, he may have stolen a car from Rollin’ Motors on U.S.
70. Charges against Salser include felony larceny and felony possession of a
controlled substance. Police believe its likely he’s still in Catawba County.
Salser is white, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, 190 pounds
with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jail clothes, but
could be wearing an orange shirt and dark, baggy pants. Police say it’s
possible that he’s driving a silver 2004 BMW coupe.
