Appalachian State University athletics have teamed up with ASU's Reich College of Education to create the Mountaineer Summer Reading Program.
The program promotes reading by rewarding first through eighth grade students in the ASU Public School Partnership for meeting goals based on the number of books they read during their summer break. Rewards include a tailgate party and a football autographed by the 2007 ASU Mountaineers. Districts in the Partnership include Alexander, Allegheny, Ashe, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, Watauga, and Wilkes counties.
