The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office has made arrests in two separate
cocaine cases. According to the Jefferson Post, they have sized $4,200
dollars worth of powder and crack cocaine. Officers have arrested
33-year-old Thomas Andrew Carlton of Wilkes County and 25-year-old
Andrea Renee Busbee on charges relating to cocaine possession with
intent to sell, maintaining a dwelling to sell and distribute cocaine
and possession of drug paraphernalia. 30-year-old Claude Blain McCrady
was arrested earlier this year on charges relating to powder cocaine
possession. He has now also been handed charges related to the
possession, distribution and sale of methamphetamine. Of note, many law
enforcement officials believe that methamphetamine can be a gateway
drug to cocaine.
