A suspect is in custody today thanks to the
cooperation of Avery and Watauga authorities.
January 23 Watauga County
Sheriff’s Office received a call about a trespasser at Devils Den Road in
Foscoe. Responding officers were told suspect Freddie Len Shook had left the
residence. By being at the property Shook had violated a court order after a
January 19th arrest for communicating threats and cruelty to
animals. A warrant was issued for his arrest and officers were told to be on
the lookout for a 1995 Green Chevrolet Truck driven by Shook. Shook was
apprehended by Avery deputies near the intersection of Highway 181 and Highway
221 in Linville. Shook was transported back to Watauga where he was placed
under arrest for violating the court order. Additionally, Shook has been
charged with breaking and entering with the intent to commit felonious assault.
He is being held under a $5,000 secured bond.
