Nine Watauga County Teachers recently received their National Board
Certifications. Patty Sostrand at Bethel; Anne Denadio, Christie Laws
and Lisa Moody at Cove Creek; Candice Trexler at Harden Park; Natalie
Willis at Parkway; Harriet Stefak at Valle Crucis; and Allison Garret
and Lee Lyall at Watauga High were recognized at Monday’s Board of
Education Meeting. According to Superintendent Bobbie Short, 14% of
Watauga County Teachers are now nationally board certified. That gives
the Watauga County School District a ranking of 15 out of 110 North
Carolina school districts for nationally board certified teachers.
National Board Certification is the highest and most challenging
certification available to teachers.
