As the Mountaineer football players rounded out the last
three minutes of play in Friday’s FCS title contest, some Mountaineer fans got
rowdy and tried to charge the field early.
Security had difficulty holding back
the excitement. After returning a
kickoff 75-yards for a touchdown, he hurled the ball towards the impeding crowd-
hitting an officer in uniform.
When the gun sounded, marking the end of the game and the three-peat victory
for Appalachian- the fans could not be held back any longer. Thousands of fans
charged the field to celebrate the win.
