|14 Pioneers Named All-Conference In Track|

The Watauga High boy's and girl's track teams were well represented on the Northwestern 3A/4A All-Conference team. The WHS girls, who won the championship had six athletes and a relay team on the
first team. The Pioneers had five athletes on the second team. Taylor Drummonds was named first team in the pole vault. She was also named second team in the 100-meter hurdles, and the 300-meter hurdles. Darby Middlebrook earned first-team honors in the 1,600-meter run and she was second team in the 800-meter run. Doria Kosmala was named first team in the 800 and second team in the 1,600; Kathleen Mansure was named first team in the 3,200-meter run; Lynde Wangler was named second-team in the 3,200; Alison Seramur was named second team in the pole vault, and the 4x800-meter relay team (Shelby Hickernell, Lily Weeks, Wangler, and Mansure) was named first team.
Kayla Ruff of Hickory was named the Runner of the Year, India McWhorter of Alexander Central was named the Field Athlete of the Year, and Jonathan Winkler of Alexander Central was named the Coach of the Year.
For the boys, WHS had two first-team selections, the 4x800 relay (Bryan Brackney, Ryan Hellenbrand, Matt Hellenbrand, and Josh Anderson) and Zach Styron was first team in the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.
Matt Hall was named was named second team in the high jump, Anderson was named second team in the 1,600, Brackney was second team in the 3,200, and Ryan Hellenbrand was named second team in the 800.
Cameron Stinson of Hickory was named the Runner of the Year; Kevin Alanis of Alexander Central was the Field Athlete of the Year; Ronnie Hopper of Hickory was the Coach of the Year.
