Two Hurt in Crash of Tractor Trailer, Car PDF Print

There were two injured in an accident just before noon today in Avery County when a sedan and tractor trailer collided at the bottom of Three Lane at Blevins Creek.  The impact trapped one man in the wreckage—but he was not pinned in—but both were conscious and able to communicate with first responders and medics arriving at the scene.  It took several minutes for emergency crews to force open the car door to free a man from his vehicle.  Trooper Greer of the State Patrol said that the wreck occurred as Lewis Berman of Coco Beach Florida made a turn in front of the tractor trailer, causing the collision, injuring Berman and his passenger, Richard Castillo, also of Coco Beach. Trucker George Lackey of Hiddenite was not hurt in the collision, but both Berman and Castillo were taken to Cannon Memorial for treatment on non-life threatening injuries.  Lewis Berman was cited for the improper turn.
