The Appalachian State University Mountaineers held the Eastern Washington Eagles to 200 fewer yards than their average to win Saturday, 38-35.

Appalachian dominated the line of scrimmage and time of possession throughout most of the game, but gave up scores on special team play, one on a kickoff return and another on a fake punt from 55 yards out. EWU's final score came with 23 seconds left, and ASU survived the ensuing onsides kickoff.

The Mountaineers advance to the semifinal round of the postseason, and next weekend will play the winner of the Southern Illinois-Wofford game, which will take place this evening.
