The Watuaga High boy's tennis team got some good news on Saturday. The Pioneers, who failed to win their first conference championship in 21 years, had three players named to the All-Northwestern 3A/4A Conference team.
Landon Taylor, who played No.1 singles and No.1 doubles for the Pioneers, the No.1 seed among the Class 4A schools in the NW3A/4A Conference, Dristen Trate, who made it to regionals in singles play, and Harrison Battle, who play No.2 singles and No.1 doubles for WHS were named all-conference.
Hickory, which won the conference championship, led the way with four players named to the all-NW3A/4A team; St. Stephens, the No.2 seed among the Class 3A schools, had three players named to the all-conference team.
Paul Hogan of Hibriten was named the NW3A/4A Player of the Year; Rom Teague of Hickory was named the Coach of the Year.
