Four Charged in Hickory Kidnapping PDF Print

Four suspects were arrested around 3:30 am yesterday after Hickory Police found a kidnap victim bound with duct tape in a residence just outside the city limits.  Alfonso Moreno was reported missing by an acquaintance after she received a telephone call demanding a ransom for Moreno’s safe return. During the early stages of the investigation, Hickory Police were able to establish a possible location of the victim, and with the assistance of the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, HPD entered a residence located at 1030 21st Street Drive SE and found the victim along with four suspects who were arrested. Moreno was treated at the scene for minor injuries.  According the victim, he was kidnapped in the parking lot of Lowe’s Hardware on US 70 SE in Hickory. Arrested are: Jorge Alonzo Rentas, 21, of Chicago, IL., Alejandro Zambrano, 23, of Orlando Park, IL, both charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Kidnapping, and Felony Conspiracy. Gema Yadaria Zambrano, 23, and 19-year old Orlando Zambrano, both of Chicago, IL, are charged with Kidnapping and Felony Conspiracy. Each suspect was placed in the Catawba County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.
