Bears Finish Third At SAC Championships PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team finished third at the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championships which concluded Tuesday at the Sevierville Golf Club.

The Bears shot a 910 (+46) on the par-72, 7,054-yard River Course while Lincoln Memorial claimed the crown with an 873 (+9).
Connor Froning of the Railsplitters was the top individual as he carded a seven-under 209 while junior Brandon Squier (Advance, N.C.) led the Bears.
Squier finished 10th overall with a 226 (+10) and junior John White (Dudley Shoals, N.C.) carded a 228 (+12) to finish in an 11th-place tie after three rounds for Lenoir-Rhyne as well.
On the women's side, Newberry captured the tournament crown with a 962 (+98) on the par-72, 5,817-yard Highlands Course.
Newberry also had the top women's player in Barbara Castro, who finished with a 232 (+16) after 54 holes of play.
L-R, which had three players in the tournament, was led by freshman Elizabeth Ewing (Greensboro, N.C.). Ewing placed 31st overall with a 265 (+49) while senior Megan Katsch (Wilmington, N.C.) tied for 32nd with a 268 (+52).
