L-R Overwhelms Newberry, 20-3 PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (7-5) made it four victories in a row with a 20-3 win over Newberry (8-9) Monday evening at Moretz Stadium. L-R sophomore Kirsten Smith (Dunkirk, Md.) led all scorers with four goals while sophomore Lauren Donovan (Hollywood, Md.) added three goals and three assists to lead the Bears to the easy victory. Lenoir-Rhyne took control from the start and built a 12-0 advantage entering intermission.
L-R held a 16-0 lead before Newberry finally got on the board with a goal by Kerri Ann Barlage (Glen Burnie, Md.) with 16:02 remaining in the contest. Barlage finished with two goals for the Wolves in the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Mary Minick (Marietta, Ga.) added two goals and three assists for the Bears, who also held the advantage in both shots taken (27-10) and ground balls (27-19) on the night. In goal, Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Allison Senft (Marietta, Ga.) was credited with the win after tallying three saves while Newberry's Morgan Raffaele (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) took the loss. Raffaele stopped four shots in the losing effort.
Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Misenheimer, N.C., to take on Pfeiffer on Wednesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. Newberry, in its second year as an intercollegiate program, sees its season come to an end.
