The State Patrol now says two people were killed in a Saturday crash just out of Bakersville and that six were transported to hospitals from Johnson City Tennessee to Boone--five flown by helicopter. Avery County emergency units were even called well into Mitchell County to help with the 2:35pm wreck, which occurred as a 99 Chrysler van failed to stop traveling Fork Mountain Road, entering NC 261, slamming into a 2008 GMC pickup, killing two in the van.  Christopher Divers and Ryno Ferreira, both 20, both of the same Hidden Creek Road Bakersville address died as a result of their injuries, Divers at Johnson City Medical Center, Ferreira at the scene. In the mayhem that followed the crash, one of the 6 injured was taken by private vehicle to Watauga Medical Center in Boone, another driven privately to Blue Ridge Regional Medical Center in Spruce Pine. The state patrol was still sorting out details from the crash, charges and other aspects pending.
