Electrical Fire Call at US Textiles PDF Print
Written by Steve Frank
Monday, 08 April 2013 06:00

Every Avery County fire company was eventually called to the US Textiles plant just before 1 yesterday afternoon after smoke was discovered inside the plant.  But first units--even subsequent units--arriving at the scene, could not determine where the smoke and smell of an electrical fire was coming from, and as fears of a greater fire grew, eventually every fire company in the county was asked to send units.  Just as the majority of the help was arriving, the cause was determined, with no major fire erupting from the electrical source, and firemen on the scene ventilated the structure and left the rest for fire investigators.
