|WHS Squads Finish Third At Fleet Feet Invite|

The Watauga High boy's track team came within four points on Saturday of winning the Fleet Feet Invitational at Hickory High in Hickory, N.C. The Pioneers posted eight top-five finishes and won two events for a total of 81 points. Shelby won the meet with 85 points; Charlotte-Olympic finished a close second with 84 points.
The Pioneers won two events---Bryan Brackney won the boy's 800-meter run in 2:03.53, and WHS won the 4x400-meter relay (3:39.10). The 4x800 relay team finished second in 8:42.41. Matthew Hall tied for fourth in the boy's high jump (5-feet, 2-inches), Josh Anderson finished fourth in the boy's 3,200 (10:17.30), and Ryan Hellenbrand finished fourth in the boy's 800 (2:07.52).
The WHS girls finished third with 64 points. The Pioneers won two events---the girl's 4v800 relay (10:35.07), and Kathleen Mansure won the girl's 3,200 (12:48.68). Madison Harman,, who finished fourth in the girl's 800 (2:34.75), was also a member of girl's 4x800 relay team. Joining her on that squad was Kaitlyn Herman, Doria Kosmala, and Lynde Wangler.
Wangler finished second in the girl's 1,600 (5:48.79). Alison Seramur had a second-place finish in the girl's pole vault. She cleared the bar with an effort of eight-feet, six-inches. The WHS girls had nine top-five finishers.
Alexander Central won the meet with 135 points. Hickory, the host school, finished a distant second with 87.50 points. The Pioneers travel to Hickory for a freshmen-sophomore meet Wednesday in Hickory. Then it's off to Columbia, S.C., for the Taco Bell Invitational Friday and Saturday.
