Boone Mayor Loretta Clawson responded to Watauga Commission chair Nathan Miller's agreement to meet with town officials over the ongoing disagreement between the town and county over the old Watauga High property, affected by the town's new 'Affordable Housing' standards. In her release Friday afternoon, she said, " We appreciate Chairman Miller’s response to our offer to mediate as-of-yet unidentified problems in the sale of the old high school property. The Town of Boone is interested in a solution to any problem, not a circus. Our offer stands to enter into mediation with the County. Once it is determined what, if any, specific changes should be considered in our ordinance to assist in the sale, there will be a full and open public hearing for all to weigh in on any proposed solution."  County Manager Deron Geouque wrote the town yesterday with several meeting options, working around town and county meetings slated for the last half of the month.
