Bernie Lentz Greene, age 85, of 150 Three Way Drive, Blowing Rock, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 3, 2013, at Blowing Rock Hospital.

 

Mrs. Greene was a lifetime member of Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was a volunteer Secretary for fifteen years. She was awarded an honorary lifetime membership in Presbyterian Women, and was a faithful member of Circle 1 of Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Greene was retired from Tweetsie Railroad, where she served as manager for over thirty years.

 

She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Lentz, of Blowing Rock, one niece, Gail Lentz Ford and husband Mark, of Boone, one nephew, Terry Lentz and wife Teresa, of Blowing Rock, three great nieces, Erin Ford Patterson and husband John, of Boone, Tara Lentz, of Nashville, Tennesse, and Tracy Lentz, of Blowing Rock, and one great-great niece, Lauren Patterson, of Boone. She is also survived by numerous friends and family members.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Greene, her father and mother, Thomas and Alice Frye Lentz, and one brother, Perry Lentz and a sister-in-law Shirley Watson Lentz.

 

Funeral services for Bernie Lentz Greene will be conducted Friday, April 5, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church. Reverend Dr. Lynn Stall and Reverend Charles Carter will officiate.

 

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2, one hour prior to the service at the church.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 393, Blowing Rock, NC 28605.

 

The family repectfully requests no food.
