US Marshals arrested a Watauga County man in Asheville on outstanding warrants filed by the Watauga Sheriff’s Office.  Sheriff Len Hagaman said that Timothy Patrick McConkey, 37, of 346 Seasons Drive in Zionville, was arrested on outstanding warrants from July of 2012. McConkey was charged with 2 counts of Trafficking in Marijuana, 2 of PWISD Marijuana, Maintaining a Dwelling Place or Vehicle for Controlled Substances, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Hagaman said that Marshals ascertained his current residence  and made the arrest. The Sheriff said McConkey was a person of interest in an investigation conducted by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division involving the sell and distribution of substantial amounts of marijuana in and around Western and Central North Carolina.  The total amount of marijuana seized during the operation was 18.4 lbs, with an estimated street value of $92,000, as calculated by $5,000 per pound of marijuana.  McConkey is scheduled to appear in Watauga County District Court on May 14th.
