ASU Chancellor Ken Peacock has responded to the narrow ‘no confidence’ vote taken by the Faculty Senate at App considering the job done by Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Lori Gonzalez —by a one vote margin. His response includes, “I want to be clear and unequivocal in my response. I have complete confidence in and unwavering support for Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Lori Gonzalez.” Gonzalez came to ASU in June 2011, and Peacock said, “I still believe this as Dr. Gonzalez has become a valued and respected member of my leadership team.” He went on to say, “Some of you have identified areas of concern, and Provost Gonzalez and I remain committed to working on them. Even though the University continues to enjoy many successes and initiatives for which we are proud, there is always room for improvement. All of us in higher education are facing many challenges, with more likely in the days to come. The Provost and I are ready and willing to dig deep into the issues and engage in meaningful dialogue with our faculty about how we address them and move forward.” What the chancellor’s response does not address was a much larger martin in the ‘no confidence’ vote on the job of Vice Provost Tony Carey, the senate voting against Carey by a wider margin of 26 to 17.
